Before it was a Coast Guard base, La Puntilla was a light station. The Lighthouse Service built at the tip of Old San Juan in the early 1900s, and the Coast Guard has held that ground since. The job never really changed: watch the water, bring people home.

Who is teaching

LeRoy Romero is a United States Marine Corps Veteran, 0311 infantry. He has spent 17 years in mortgage lending, and roughly nine out of ten people he works with are Veterans.

He runs Ground Truth Education, a Veteran education platform. He teaches the mistakes he made himself, because he trusted the wrong people who pushed him into different loans knowing he had earned the benefit. It’s through education. His mission is to educate Veterans so they’re prepared when their real estate agent or their loan officer isn’t.
